The carriages are well over 50 years old. This is yet another life-extending refurbishment. The interior of each carriage was been entirely revamped with new seating, carpeting, curtaining and lighting. They are now even air-conditioned!

As well as internally, the exteriors of all carriages have been renewed and repainted to a high finish and now bear the train's name as branding.

The rear carriage of each train has a rear observation lounge. This is AO83 looking towards the rear.
