Capital movements as seen from Westpac Stadium

7th July 2004

This collection, taken on 6th July 2004, gives an unusual view of Wellington Station and the Tranz Metro depot and sidings. The images were taken, with permission, from the roof of the adjacent Westpac Stadium between 12 and 1pm.

With Wellington Station in the background below the city skyline, the 2-car 12.35pm service departs for Upper Hutt on 6.7.2004.	Seen entering the yards from the north are DBR1267, DBR1200 and DX5039 at the head of train 237 on 6.7.2004.	D2826 leads a 4-car "Johnsonville Line" set into the Tranz Metro sidings for washing on 6.7.2004.	D2157 heads 12 cars of the remaining 15 red English Electric units out of the wash-bay on 6.7.2004.
It's 12.55pm and DC4191 departs Wellington with Train 1604 to Masterton. It threads its way from Platform 9 onto the up line and is seen passing 'A' box.	DX5039 and the "bankers" DBR1200 and 1267 pass below the stadium on a positioning move into the loco yard on 6.7.2004.	Having brought in Train 1607 from Masterton, DC4191 runs past the Stadium having been turned ready to take out the 12.55pm departure.	Nearing journey's end, DC4191 passes the Tranz Metro depot as it brings Train 1607 in from Masterton on 6.7.2004.
DQ6382 moves past below the stadium as it performs a positioning move within the loco depot sidings on 6.7.2004.	EM1309 passes below the stadium and the Tranz Metro sidings as it approaches the "throat" at Wellington station on 6.7.2004.	ET3004 leads a 12-car set out of the station sidings towards the wash-bay on 6.7.2004.	EM1315 sparkles with its spic and span appearance as it leads a long rake of units away from the wash-bay back towards the station sidings on 6.7.2004.
ET3309 leaves Wellington with the 12.05pm service to Upper Hutt.	Wellington station "throat" and "A" box. Seen on 6.7.2004 as the 12.02pm to Johnsonville departs.	The 1pm service to Paraparaumu passes "A" box as it heads away from the capital on 6.7.2004.	Tranz Metro's Wellington depot on 6.7.2004 with units being washed through the middle of the day.
