Garden Railways

Dacresfield is situated a short distance north of Otaki. It is primarily 2 acres of beautiful gardens, but a quarter of an acre has been developed into a fascinating garden railway. Visitors can wander through the villages and miniature landscape through which the American themed railway runs. Dacresfield Garden and Railway is open between 11 and 4pm on Sundays and Public Holidays from beginning of October to the end of March. An admission charge applies. The photographs were taken on a visit to the gardens on 12.12.2004. Highly recommended.

No.8 of the Southern & Colorado brings a rake of passenger carriages out of one of the delightful villages.	No.6 of Southern & Colorado leaves Idaho Springs with a mixed freight.	The circus is in town.	A glimpse of Rio Grande loco No.12 is seen between the buildings.
No.8 with a passenger train passes No.32 on a looped freight train.	It could almost be the real thing - No.1 of the Baldwin Locomotive works. The great thing about Dacresfield is being able to get close up and serious!	No.8 of the Colorado & Southern passes through a village with a passenger train.	No.6 of the Colorado and Southern crosses a girder bridge with a mixed freight train.
A circus train arrives at the circus and funfair site.	No.2 of Iron Mountain Co propels a small rake of coal wagons across one of the many bridges on the Dacresfield Railway.	No.6 rounds a curve with a short rake of log wagon	No.6 with its rake of logs passes No.2 and its mixed train in the loop.
No.6 again and seen crossing the massive timber trestle bridge.	No.32 with its mixed freight passes No.2 of the Iron Mountain Co.	No.32 is seening crossing a girder bridge.	No.32 brings its short mixed freight across a stone bridge.
