On the other side of the workshops and accessed from Elizabeth St, DC4830 sits in front of a row of ex-BR MKII carriages that one day may be rebuilt for NZ duty. Hutt workshops |
|
|
|---|
| DCP4830 is a Christchurch based Tranz Scenic owned and operated loco that was sent to Hutt shos in around February 2004 for main generator work. It was sent around the same time as DCP4611 which is now in permanent service with TS2001 in the North Island and apparently the only TS owned one still running up there. |

|
|---|
| There are 9 more of these on their way to the south island. 5 of them were formerly operated on the London to Gatwick service, they were purchased by an intended heritage group in 2005 but never used. I believe the Mainline Steam Ltd will be the new owners? |

| I was just going to mention that I worked on the generator#26404 |

| The light has caught the austerity of the scene very well. Thanks for your tour of the area. A change from tv at Christmas time, although I've been watching some good DVD we have here in the UK now
Thanks again

| Dear Allan,
Excellent photo, photographically. Worth Every bit of the score of 10 I gave it. Can I respectully draw your attention to the fact that your written description of the this photo seems incomplete, at least thats the way it came up om my computer. (http://www.crusader.fotopic.net/p7691194_v10.html |

Adding a splash of colour to an otherwise overcast 26.2.2005, 3 DC locos, 4594, 4231 and 4156, pass Kenepuru with Train 237. Diesel locos operated by Toll Rail (Tranz Rail up to 4.5.2004) and Tranz Scenic. |

| Hi Alan --- Don't be disappointed that I only rated your photographic effort with an 8. I rate it 10++ for just plain great railroading interest and histoiric value.
